Why is the Titanic still under water and why has it not been brought to the surface?

Some years back, the Unsinkable Royal Mail Streamer Titanic sank underwater due to hitting with an iceberg in 1911. After that, many people tried to find titanic but failed. In 1985, famous archeologist and American Navy Officer Robert Ballard found it.

With this discovery, many new questions arose on this as the titanic was found 12500feet (4 kilometers) deep inside the sea. All of the precious and rare things present in the titanic were removed but the titanic ship wasn't removed.

In 1985, when titanic was discovered, it was not in the situation to be called a ship. Since because it was present for more than 73 years underwater, its metal had became too weak which was impossible to take it out using cables or any other traditional methods.

The first suggestion which came was to remove titanic with the help of a submarine and strong magnets but many problems arose. First one was the weight of the titanic which was about 1.43 lakhs tonnes and plus the water pressure which will increase its weight by many times. Since the titanic was present around 3750 meters deep underwater where water pressure was much high. This led to the failure of this suggestion.

Till the beginning of 20th century, didn't had any tough plan about it but they tried to find many unusual tricks one of which was the ping pong balls! RIGHT!

It was told that if the titanic is filled with ping pong balls, then it will be easier to push titanic up. One more of the same kind was to fill balloons with helium gas and attach it to the titanic but no one thought that how can they take ping pong balls or helium balloons deep inside the water without getting burst as water pressure will be high at the surface of titanic. This again led to the failure.

After some months, on the basis of the theory of density as the density of ice is less than that of water, a contractor Arthur Hickey gave a suggestion to convert the titanic into an iceberg freezing the water around the titanic so that it will come up and float on water which will be easier to take it on the shore.

Some same sort of idea was given by an American engineer John Pierce who suggested to use liquid nitrogen.

This project was looking good but it was concluded that about half million ton of liquid nitrogen would be required to freeze such a huge ship. It failed totally when the question arose that how can one take this much amount of liquid nitrogen four kilometers underwater.

After all these unusual ideas, a legendary soviet ship builder Mikhail Rudnitsky gave a full proved plan with all the calculations to remove the ship.

He said that they should first clean the surface of titanic with powerful automatic hydro insulation. Then with the help of heavy cables, titanic should be attached with an empty Pontoon Boat.

For this operation, around 20 million kWh of electricity was required and for this huge scale of project, a power plant will be required. This power plant should me made on water but it will be of no use in the future. After many debates, this project was kept on hold sometimes due to technical problems and sometimes due to lack of budget.

Here, one more question arises that why a company will remove titanic because already all precious and rare things are removed from it and the metal is also of no use because its too weak. Scientists tell that till 2030, titanic will be fully eaten by the bacteria's and aquatic animals. THUS, TITANIC WAS NOT REMOVED AS THE COMPANY WHO REMOVES IT WILL BE IN GREAT LOSS AND NO ONE WANTS IT.
